A national park ideal for bikes, Zion National Park’s most popular bike path is actually a road – the 6.5-mile Zion Canyon Scenic Drive. Lacking major vehicular traffic from April to October because of a mandatory shuttle, the road offers a serene setting for mountain bike tours. Zion Canyon is the most visited part of the park because of its concentration of wondrous natural formations, from colorful sandstone monoliths such as Angels Landing, The Great White Throne and the Court of the Patriarchs to the hanging gardens of Weeping Rock and the Riverside Walk. As you ride through this tranquil atmosphere, one of our mountain bike guides will expound on the canyon’s geology, history, folklore, flora and fauna. You might even see wildlife such as wild turkeys, squirrels, lizards and mule deer. Guided mountain bike tours along the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive are appropriate for all ages and ability levels. During the tour, if time allows, our guides might take you on one of the canyon’s trails.
Besides joining one of our scenic mountain bike tours through Zion Canyon, you can rent a bike from us and take an unguided ride along the Pa’rus Trail, which is the only trail in the park that permits bikes. Traversing the banks of the Virgin River, the 3.5-mile paved path provides a different perspective for viewing some of Zion’s less-recognized sandstone monoliths. The trail provides many river access points along the way. It runs from the Canyon Junction shuttle stop, located at the intersection of State Highway 9 and the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive, to the visitor center.
In addition to our guided Zion Canyon scenic tours, we offer more challenging mountain bike tours on three of southern Utah’s most popular trails, the Navajo Lake Loop Trail, the JEM Trail and the Gooseberry Mesa Trail. Single day or multi-day tours to these destinations originate from our headquarters at Zion Mountain Resort, one of the region’s most unique lodging options. Adjacent to a field of buffalo with Zion’s towering formations looming in the distance, the resort offers guests their own private cabins with king beds, refrigerators, microwaves and jetted tubs standard. Multi-day excursions include accommodations at the resort. Satisfaction is not hard to come by with the rooms, the guides, the bikes and the scenery offered on one of our guided mountain biking tours!
